Drop Your Shells

One of the most difficult concepts for me to grasp: We can do anything, but we can't do everything.

I love this video, among many others, by Rob Bell. It has such an amazing message and I probably should watch it every day until I obtain it's message. When asking a friend, "How are you?" and they often respond with "Good, busy." These two words have become so intertwined, as if we must be "busy" in order to be "good."
Why do we do this to ourselves? What is wrong with having time to enjoy your life, to enjoy the people around you?
I'm sick of it. I'm exhausted. I'm sick of feeling so busy that I want to cry, haha.
It's time to simplify. To prioritize and remember what's truly important. To start saying no because I've already said yes.

That's my thing

Just fly one time

I love that music is an acquired taste. A song may be good the first time you hear it, but the more you listen, the more amazing it gets.
Ben Harper's "Fly One Time" is definitely one of those songs.

The lyrics are so fitting to our current place in life - we're all looking to go on to new crazy places, with one foot out the door and one foot still strongly planted behind. The lyrics and the music video are so inspiring - go get your dreams!

Ave Maria

On Easter Sunday, Gama Bama took us to Ave Maria for mass in Naples. This church was really special to her husband, Michael's grandpa, that passed away a few years ago. They said his face was just filled with peace whenever he walked in. Looking around at the unique architecture,
she said it is "simple and strong, just like our faith."
It was such an honor to be with them on this day, and such a blessing to be surrounded by people that I can share my faith with!

Happy Hump Day!

Some sunshine from Naples, FL :)

This photo makes me so happy! A group of friends went to Naples over spring break for some sun and sand, and we had a blast. From beach days to grilling out, underwater camera sessions, question games and romantic strolls, it was the perfect spring break finale.

You gotta have faith

I'm sitting in the library, cramming for a history exam tomorrow, watching the torrential downpour soak the campus outside my window, and playing a game of tennis in my mind between graduation and job searching, and everything else on my list of things to do.

In about 5 minutes, I worked myself into a massive frenzy.

Then I remembered this...

'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, ' plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

And after a deep breath, life was re-filled with so many wonderfuls :)

A little paradise

The combination of winter in the Midwest and too many exams leave students with only one solution: A little paradise.
Over Easter Break we headed down to Naples to stay with Michael's grandparents. We were in dire need of a little sunshine and sand so it was a perfect way to spend the week!
We'd go straight to the beach in the morning-laying in the sun until we were too hot, swimming until we were too cold, playing ball and taking long walks. The boys would cook us dinner (we know how to pick 'em) and then we'd spend hours talking to Gama Bama, Papa Tom and their friends. We'd always end the night with some more dancing or beach time, and if we were lucky, we'd get to have a drink with a prize lobster!
Most of us either currently live together or have known each other for quite awhile, but there were some people in our group of 10 that I was just meeting for the first time and some that I haven't spent more than a day or two with. There are so many different ways to vacation so I was really excited to get to know everyone on this new level. We had SO much fun spending all of this time together, learning about everyones little quirks. All of our relationships were strengthened and we had an amazing week :) Wish we could go back!!
