God doesn't make junk.

Give Thanks, and as you look around at yourself, your loved ones, and the world we live in, try to remember simply that God doesn't make junk.
(try to ignore the slightly cheesy nature and listen to the message!)

Happy Happy Thanksgiving :)

Rue-licious

I took a look at RUE's second issue today, all 297 beautiful pages! If you're unaware (don't worry, they're new!), RUE is an online magazine that just debuted earlier this fall.
Here are some favorite images:

Girl Crush

I'm starting to see Land's End Canvas everywhere, in a wonderful way. They seem to have remade themselves in a very J.Crewish manner with a smaller price tag, and I am not complaining. I just came across their latest catalog and I'm now obsessed with the following...

I'm not sure if it's just the gorgeous model with beautiful red hair and adorable freckles (she might be my new favorite), but I love these outfits. Chunky sweaters complete with cream cords and brown leather...love it! The best part is that Land's End is included in my Cashback Bonus options...so thank you, Discover Card, for bringing this sweater closer to my closet!

Get a bloody move on!

I'm finally getting back to the gym today after months of hiatus! Watching this video makes me think I should just listen to this song and mimic their workout plan...minus the vom.

my slips

I've seen these slippers everywhere for quite a few years - in stores, magazines, on campus, and even in Grey's Anatomy, always looking so wonderfully comfortable. A few weeks ago I finally bought them. at Target. for $16.99.

I've worn them everyday since that purchase and they are simply awesome. The temperature of my body depends on that of my feet, so these warm and fuzzy slippers are my new best friend, especially after a long day in heels. If you don't have a pair, I suggest you change that, because it's a simple pleasure that is oh-so-wonderful.

The Good 'Ol Days

I was browsing Katie Armour's fantastic website, The Neo-Traditionalist, as I typically do, (it really is fantastic), and I came across these beautiful pencil drawings by Ileana Hunter. And now, I am in love. Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn-they define glamour and are so classically beautiful. I especially love the old telephone. I would love to have one of my own, whether I can use it or just drool over it's beauty.
These drawings popped up at such an appropriate time as I just bought Breakfast at Tiffany onDemand, which I've always wanted to see. I tried watching it three separate times today and got overruled by the men in my life in lieu of football. ....C'est la vie.
Anyway, enjoy the drawings, and visit the Neo-Traditionalist!

Can You Handle the Truth?

So..this is disgusting, and I'm sorry, but it popped up on my facebook newsfeed and I felt compelled to share.

Say hello to mechanically separated chicken. It’s what all fast-food chicken is made from—things like chicken nuggets and patties. Also, the processed frozen chicken in the stores is made from it. Basically, the entire chicken is smashed and pressed through a sieve—bones, eyes, guts, and all. it comes out looking like this. There’s more: because it’s crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia, soaked in it, actually. Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color. But, hey, at least it tastes good, right?----Got this from Gettingushealthy

To answer my own question, no, I can't handle the truth.

Just - Wow

As I was browsing the birthday card section in Target I came across a small area titled "Taylor Swift." I thought it'd be a collection of those fun musical cards, but sure enough..

Taylor Swift has her very own line of greeting cards. I realize this is now my second post about her in less than 2 months (I swear I'm not obsessed), but I found this all very entertaining. I love the front cover, and the message inside caused me to let out a great big "HAH!" in the middle of the aisle. It seemed to be plucked right from the script of "Valentine's Day," where she played the role of a ditzy, love-struck high schooler. She was quoted in an interview saying that the movie's character was very different than her actual self...nice try, Taylor.
Now we know: She can sing, act, AND write birthday cards (oh my!)...what will she do next?!

It's a breeze.

With football season in full swing and basketball season on its way, tailgating parties are a common weekend festivity. I don't know about you, but at 10 am, I have a hard time consuming my favorite beer, or a nice glass of wine. Though I love a good Bloody Mary (it's all about the shish-kabob), and a nice Mimosa, I'm typically not a big fan of mixed or fruity drinks...too much sugar. But now, I've found a winner!
Introducing the SeaBreeze...
Ingredients: Vodka of your preference, Orange Juice, and Cranberry Juice. Most bartenders make it with Grapefruit juice instead of OJ but I'm not a fan, so be sure to specify which fruit you prefer!
It's essentially a Screwdriver with a splash of cranberry, and it's wonderful :)

Happy tailgating! Let me know what you think!

Jump Around!

It was another successful Badger weekend, complete with a game victory and a "W" poncho! Thank you, Walgreens, for saving the day with $6 Wisco ponchos. I loved my sexy plastic rain cape.

Luckily the game was such a blowout that we only stayed until the end of the 3rd quarter...for Jump Around of course. There are many reasons why I didn't choose Madison for my undergrad, but visiting this school often makes me forget...

You should go.

While running some errands yesterday I stopped at TJ Maxx. I continuously forget how wonderful this store is! You can always count on finding a bargain, but you have to be in the mood to do a little digging. As I was walking through the home decor aisle I had to immediately fight back the urge to buy nearly everything. Pots and pans seem to have that effect on me...now if only I could cook.

I can't stop thinking about those colorful pots and the blue and white dish-ware. White and royal blue have become my favorite color combo - it's just so classic and clean looking. I'm trying to wait until I actually move back into my own place before buying anything, but I think I need to go back for at least a coffee mug! I did however purchase a pair of simple black heels with a bow, only $25! I have a sports-filled weekend ahead but I'm sure I can squeeze them in :)
Is the TJ Maxx jingle stuck in your head yet?!
Have a good weekend!

She thinks my tractor's sexy

Last weekend was filled with some heavenly sights. The sun was shining, leaves were burning, and Michael's dreams were coming true with his first tractor ride (mine, too!). My dad volunteers to maintain a conservancy area for the lake, so he gets to drive a tractor on a weekly basis. Apparently this is every boys dream...news to me. So we took a little adventure for the almost-birthday-boy and put Michael on a tractor. Seriously hilarious. Here are some weekend sights that I love.
"I could ride on this all day!"

"Where boys become men," ...obviously.

A perfect weekend with my favorite men, Buddy included!
